Faculty of Medicine students represented by the Lebanese Medical Students' International Committee (LeMSIC) and the Standing Committee on Sexual and Reproductive Health including HIV/AIDS (SCORA), have organized an International Women's Day Campaign in the Main building, Beirut Campus since on Tuesday 8 March 2016.
Empowering women and defending their rights searching for equality has been discussed extensively worldwide in the last few years, and recently there was lots of reported cases about domestic and sexual violence against women in Lebanon, Therefore it was crucial to organize such a campaign in the university.
The students prepared 5 stands, each had a different topic.
Stands aimed to educate the public about women's health, and domestic violence through multiple interactive games concerned with correcting the myths, knowing what’s true or false and offering more information about the topic, in addition to KAFA's stand.
The campaign offered Self-Defense training sessions in which 2 trainers were present to teach the public some moves that can help them in cases of harassment, rob or rape.
