The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted in September 2015 by the United Nations General Assembly, sets out a transformative vision towards economic, social and environmental sustainability for the 193 Member States that signed it and will be the reference guide for the institution's work towards this vision over the next 15 years. Knowledge of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) associated with this Agenda helps to evaluate the starting point of the countries of the region and to analyze and formulate the means to achieve this new vision of sustainable development, which is expressed collectively and was reflected in the 2030 Agenda. The SDGs are also a planning and monitoring tool for countries, both nationally and locally. Thanks to their long-term vision, they will constitute a support for each country on its path towards sustainable, inclusive and harmonious development with the environment, through public policies and budget instruments, monitoring and evaluation.
