Under the patronage of Prof Amr Galal El Adawi, the Faculty of Medicine at Beirut Arab University organized an Influenza Flu Vaccine Campaign, with the help of Sanofi Aventis company, that was held on Friday 21^st of October 2016 at the main campus of the university.
Throughout the day, flu vaccine shots were given to BAU staff and students. The vaccines were all given by medical students who were trained before hand to give the vaccine. In addition, awareness about influenza virus and its complications, and the importance of the vaccine against influenza was also provided by the medical students to the university students and staff.
This event was preceded the day before, on Thursday the 20^th of October 2016, with a press conference event, where a lecture was given by one of the Sanofi members Mr Marwan El Sherif, followed by another presentation, given by one of the medical faculty staff, Dr Hala Ahmadieh, a senior lecturer at Beirut Arab University. This lecture involved information on influenza virus, its seriousness, the way it is transmitted and ways to prevent it. Information was also provided on the importance of the influenza vaccine shots, that should be taken yearly, especially to high risk individuals, so as to try to decrease the risk of getting the influenza virus infection and its subsequent complications. Both events were extremely successful and enjoyed by everyone.
