Overview
This laboratory is equipped with self-contained teaching facilities such as vehicle educational model that shows the basic elements of an automotive system. The lab also contains a wind tunnel used for experimental aerodynamic studies. A thermal solar energy unit is also available. In this laboratory, students are able to experimentally evaluate heat conduction in one dimension, free and forced convection, radiation and transient conduction with convection, and to study the effect of adding fins to a body as well. Students can also measure the temperature by different ways using module temperature. Moreover, several test benches for free, forced and combined free and forced convection are found. Simple compression refrigeration circuit test bench is also available for explaining the structure and functioning of a heat pump using a simple compression refrigeration circuit.
Finally, there are three different vibration apparatus and a test rig used in a number of experiments to be carried out on free and forced vibration. Courses served: MCHE 429, MCHE 533, MCHE 536, MCHE 564, MCHE 422, MCHE 571, MCHE 572.
