Biography
Professor Yehya Temsah is Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Professor of Civil Engineering at Beirut Arab University. He holds a PhD in Soil and Structures from École Centrale de Paris and a master’s degree in Solid Mechanics from Université Pierre et Marie Curie.
With more than 30 years of experience in academia and engineering practice, his expertise spans structural modeling, seismic analysis, and numerical simulation. He has published more than 75 peer-reviewed papers and serves on national building code committees.
Professor Temsah has also directed major infrastructure, bridge, and high-rise design projects across the Middle East, Central Asia, and Europe.
Research Interests
My research interests focus on structural behavior under earthquakes, explosions, and dynamic impact, with expertise in seismic analysis, structural dynamics, and numerical simulation. My professional experience includes the structural analysis and design of tall buildings, bridges, and infrastructure, connecting research with practical engineering solutions to improve structural safety and resilience.
Education & Qualifications
PhD in Soil and Structural Mechanics, École Centrale de Paris, France, 1993.
Master of Science (DEA) in Mechanics of Solids, Université Pierre et Marie Curie (Paris VI), France, 1990.
BSc in Civil Engineering, Beirut Arab University, Lebanon, 1986.
Professional qualification: Member of the Lebanese Order of Engineers and Architects – Beirut since 1986.
Teaching Areas
My teaching areas include structural engineering, reinforced and prestressed concrete design, strength and properties of materials, structural dynamics, seismic analysis, and earthquake engineering. I also teach numerical modeling of structures, tall buildings, reinforced and prestressed concrete bridges, water tanks, and hydraulic structures. My teaching integrates theoretical principles with practical design applications, supported by structural analysis software and Building Information Model
Awards & Recognition
Recognized for professional expertise through service on the Lebanese Concrete Code Standardization Committee (1997–2016), the National Committee for Seismic Design Code Development (since 2005), and the Regional Commission of Experts of the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (2003–2010).
