About

About

Dr. Hamza Issa is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Engineering at Beirut Arab University (BAU), teaching across the Debbieh and Bekaa campuses. With a specialization in Electromagnetic, microwave engineering, Antennas, Electronics, and radio-frequency (RF) circuit architectures, Dr. Issa’s academic career bridges rigorous theoretical electromagnetics with applied hardware fabrication. He is highly active in the international academic community, frequently contributing to peer-reviewed engineering journals and maintaining collaborative research partnerships, notably with institutions in France.

Research & Technical Expertise

Dr. Issa’s research investigates advanced millimeter-wave passive circuit design and antenna optimization. His current work focuses heavily on the synthesis and performance enhancement of planar filter structures and Low-Noise Amplifiers (LNAs). He has published extensively on topics including:

  • Microstrip patch filters and Stepped-Impedance Resonators.

  • Parallel-Coupled Line layouts and Air-Cavity Substrate Inverted Microstrip topologies.

  • Impedance matching, quality factor optimization, and electromagnetic field behaviors.

His research methodology integrates advanced Electronic Design Automation (EDA) simulation with physical prototyping. Dr. Issa is highly proficient in industry-standard electromagnetic simulation tools, including Ansys HFSS, Keysight ADS, Cadence Virtuoso, and MATLAB. In the laboratory, he oversees the physical inspection and fabrication of circuit prototypes using LPKF printed circuit board CNC platforms, micrometers, and high-resolution 2D imaging tools to evaluate substrate deflections and cavity deformations.

Teaching & Academic Leadership

A dedicated educator, Dr. Issa is committed to modernizing the engineering classroom. He actively integrates interactive digital polling platforms into his lectures to enhance student engagement and track academic achievement. Beyond the university, he is a proactive advocate for educational technology, frequently delivering invited awareness lectures on the integration of artificial intelligence tools in secondary and higher education.
