Pharmacy Practice Department Adopting Advanced Teaching Methodologies
21 March 2016Pharmacy practice department is continuously committed to enhance students learning through using diverse teaching and learning methodologies and recent technologies. During the spring semester, Interactive Class Response System was effectively used in ICBL I course. This technology successfully promotes active engagement of students during their course sessions. Students at the beginning of the session are challenged by series of questions addressing the care for a patient suffering from a simple condition. Students have to answer these questions first individually using interactive learning devices while providing them with immediate feedback on their achievements. After this, students engage in a thorough discussion of the questions’ answers and develop a comprehensive care plan for the case study.
‘By engaging their minds in class, classroom response system based instruction makes the students active participants in the learning process and I consider it an excellent simulation to real situations in practice where the pharmacist in charge has to act promptly and efficiently at the same time’ quoted Dr. Deema Rahme, ICBLI instructor.
‘Responding to case based questions using clickers is joyful yet put me under stress sometimes as I have to submit my answer in short time. Overall this experience it is highly challenging and interesting’ quoted Ghida Itani 3rd level student on her 1st experience with response systems.
