International Conference and Exhibition on Pharmacognosy, Phytochemistry & Natural Products (Pharmacognosy 2013) was a remarkable event which brought together a unique and more than hundred international leading Universities, Pharmaceutical, Biotech and Herbal Companies, and Research Institutes working in the field of plant and herbal products, making the Conference a perfect platform to share experience, foster collaborations across industry and academia and share emerging scientific updates across the globe by means of thought provoking Keynote presentations, Oral talks and Poster presentations.
Pharmacognosy 2013 took place at Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel, Hyderabad, India from 21-23 October, 2013 and was organized by OMICs group, Los Angeles, USA.
My oral presentation was entitled "Endogenous Lebanese Plants Treating Diabetes and Related Complications". This presentation included my latest research in Beirut Arab University, Faculty of Pharmacy and discussed diabetes and its related complications as a serious threat to public health in all parts of the world. The treatment and control of diabetes mainly depend on the synthetic agents, but the fact is that it has never reported total recovery from diabetes. Natural medicines mainly originated in herbs, the traditional Lebanese medicine performed a good experimental practice and is showing a bright future in the therapy of diabetes mellitus and its complications. Based on a large number of Ethnopharmacological research work, numerous bioactive compounds have been found in Lebanese medicinal plants for diabetes. This work presents three natural medicines with regards to their anti-diabetic active principles and/or pharmacological test results, which are commonly used in the traditional Lebanese medical system and have demonstrated experimental anti-diabetic effectiveness. It is highly significant to pay attention to traditional Lebanese natural medicines for treatment and control of diabetes mellitus and its complications.
The conference program featured the input of over eighty keynote speakers and about eighty poster presentations including representatives from major leading Universities.
Beirut Arab University and my presentation took significant appreciation from the crowd and the valuable attending scientists.
