The Department of French Language and Literature at the Faculty of Human Sciences, Beirut Arab University, organized its annual International Conference, entitled Accepter l’Autre dans sa Différence. The conference consisted of the opening and six sessions, covering such diverse topics as diversity, culture, identity, language, cosmopolitanism, and history, in the light of tolerance of difference and otherness. Attended by a vast assortment of academic staff, students, and interested people, the conference hosted HE Monsieur Pascal Couchepin, the ex-President of Switzerland. Speakers and scholars at the conference included researchers from Lebanon, France and Morocco among others, and the event was sponsored by the Swiss Embassy, Universite Paris Sorbonne and the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie.
