20 July 2026The student Karim Jbeily from the Mathematics and Computer Science department participated in the NUST Internship Program for International Students (NIPIS) 2026, hosted by the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) in Islamabad, Pakistan.
The internship provided the student with valuable technical, professional, and international exposure. As part of the technical component of the program, the student worked on a project entitled “Post-Quantum Secure Attendance System.” The project focused on combining biometric authentication, dynamic QR codes, and post-quantum cryptographic techniques, including ML-KEM and ML-DSA, to develop a secure authentication mechanism and protect attendance records against potential future quantum-computing threats.
In addition to the technical experience, the internship offered significant cultural and professional enrichment. Karim had the opportunity to interact with participants from different countries and cultural backgrounds, exchange knowledge and experiences, and gain insight into diverse academic and professional perspectives.
During the program, the student also attended official events in the presence of the Ambassador of Lebanon to Pakistan, H.E. Abdelaziz Issa, providing further exposure to diplomatic and international environments.
Participation in NIPIS 2026 represents a valuable international activity for the department, contributing to the development of students’ technical competencies, intercultural communication skills, and international academic and professional exposure.
