Super moon night

23 June 2013

Super moon night, 23rd of June 2013

7 pm – 10 pm (moon observation and BQ dinner)

BAU Observatory - Debbieh Site with Students from the International School of Choueifat, ISC

Observation of (1) the super moon, (2) Venus and (3) Resolved Stars images.

A lecture will be given by Dr Tarek Ibrahim (20 minutes) at 7 pm in room EB130. The students would be divided into groups to watch the above astronomical observations.

We could watch the details of the moon surface, some nice shadows would be clear due to the high resolving power of the telescopes. We could also watch Venus and the disc shape of it to show the students how to differentiate between stars and planets. It would be a good observation too, if we show them how a single star seen by our naked eyes in the big dipper constellation can show as three distinct stars after getting resolved by the telescopes.
