Beirut Arab University – the faculty of Architecture – Design & Built Environment represented by the faculty dean, Prof. Ibtihal El-Bastawissi congratulates its graduate, Arch. Mounira El-Halabi, for being selected one of the Honorable Mentions Projects in Tamayouz Excellence Award of Graduation Projects in Architecture – 2021.
Tamayouz Excellence Award is the world’s largest international award for architecture graduation projects. Each year, the award invites students within the field of architecture, urban design, planning, and landscape design to submit their graduation projects, to recognize architectural design excellence and education worldwide, as well as, showcase outstanding architectural projects examples and ways of approach to promote and provoke debate.
Mounira’s Project, “Khan El-Saboun Crafts Center”, was selected as one of the top ten winning projects among 485 submissions, representing 153 universities in 41 countries all over the world. The project was supervised by Dr. Eslam Elsamahy through the academic year 2018/2019.
“The jury found this project to be full of merit, the jury highly commended this project and its thorough investigation of tradition, craftsmanship, and urban fabric. Its intention to recover the built and cultural heritage was recognized and the judges found the resulting architecture and connection of roofs and the street symbolic and realistic “.
