Beirut Arab University organized the “Vocational Training Needs & Capacity Building Workshop”, as part of the Erasmus+ project “Innovative Textile for Palestine and Lebanon (InTexPaL).” The workshop was hosted at the Faculty of Architecture, Design and Built Environment at BAU’s Debbieh Campus.
The event brought together academics, industry representatives, and key stakeholders to discuss vocational training needs, digital innovation, and opportunities for collaboration within the textile and fashion sectors in Lebanon and Palestine.
The workshop commenced with a welcome address by Dean of Academic Affairs and International Relations Professor Sobhi Abou Chahine, followed by remarks from Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, Design and Built Environment Professor Hassan Abdel-Salam. Coordinator of the National Erasmus+ Office Dr. Aref Al-Soufi also delivered a brief intervention emphasizing the importance of the workshop and the role of Erasmus+ cooperation initiatives in supporting vocational education and training.
Dr. Hisham El Arnaouty presented an overview of the Faculty of Architecture, Design and Built Environment at BAU, highlighting the university’s continuous efforts to advance fashion design education. Mr. Hilal Fadlallah introduced the InTexPaL project, outlining its objectives, work packages, expected outcomes, and anticipated impact.
At the end of the workshop, the questionnaire was thoroughly explained to the participants and completed collectively in the presence of the attendees to ensure clarity and accuracy of responses. Participants were also invited to raise questions and engage in discussions regarding the questionnaire’s objectives, particularly in identifying current gaps, challenges, and needs within fashion design education and the textile sector.
The workshop concluded with a guided tour of the faculty’s fashion design laboratories and facilities.
