About
Following the completion of her doctoral degree, Dr. Maggie Houshaimi has been an Assistant Professor of Economics at Beirut Arab University, after three years as a Lecturer in Economics at the same institution. She teaches core economics courses, including Econometrics and Risk and Uncertainty, and acts as course coordinator for several economics courses. In addition, she held the role of MBA Program Academic Coordinator for the 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 academic years.
Her research agenda focuses on financial economics, monetary policy and risk assessment, with a strong emphasis on applying modern econometric methods to analyse financial stability, policy transmission and risk. As a SUSI alumna, selected among only 18 economists worldwide, she participated in economics seminars and research discussions at leading institutions such as MIT and Harvard, further strengthening her empirical and research-driven approach.
Dr. Houshaimi developed substantive expertise in credit analysis and financial risk management in the Lebanese financial sector over more than ten years while completing her graduate studies. This professional background continues to inform her research on financial risk and financial stability.
