Placement Test

The placement test is a two-hour exam with 100 MCQs. It is divided into four parts, 25 questions each: Reading, Vocabulary, Language Use and Writing. The language skills tested in this exam are based on the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) standards, employing the cognitive abilities which depend mainly on thinking skills represented by understanding, analysis, synthesis, critical thinking and evaluation among others. The skills employed in each part are specified based on the competencies required to be present in the English language learner at a definite level. Irregular students registered at any program at BAU and external students from outside BAU who would like to enrol in any intensive English course to improve their English language proficiency can take the placement test. According to the student's score on the placement test, s/he is located in the appropriate level as follows:

  • 20% -29% = INTE 100-101
  • 30%-39% = INTE 102
  • 40%-49% = INTE 103
  • 50%-59% = INTE 104
