SAFAR - French Embassy Scholarship

What is the Scholarship about?

BAU and the French Embassy in Lebanon, co-finance doctoral scholarships reserved for Lebanese doctoral students admitted to prepare a doctoral thesis based on a cotutelle agreement between BAU and a French university. The student will be registered in both BAU and its partner institution in France.

What are the scholarship terms?

  • BAU Graduates holding or are in the process of preparing, a Research Master's degree.
  • Candidates must have the language skills that conform to the language of work and research project.
  • Candidate must formerly have an approval from a host University in France to complete their study.
  • Applications must be submitted in both electronic and paper versions to the Deanship of Graduate Studies Office at BAU (single document in pdf format ) which will be forwarded to the French Embassy / French Institute no later than 5 days before the final selection date.
  • The funding between the Embassy of France and BAU covers the doctoral student for a maximum duration of 3 academic years (one year renewable twice only).
  • The accepted doctoral students should be dedicated full-time to her/his doctoral studies and thesis work.

What does the Scholarship cover?

Scholarship holders under this call will benefit from both the French Government Scholarship and a PhD Scholarship from BAU as follows:

  • A Full academic PhD scholarship for 3 consecutive years offered by BAU.
  • The benefits offered by the Embassy of France are:
  • A monthly allowance provided to the doctoral student during their stay in France, for a duration of up to 18 months, preferably distributed over 6 months per academic year.
  • Free visa
  • Free medical care in France
  • Free registration fees in France if applicable
  • Free round-trip flight ticket between Lebanon and France
  • Free transportation between the arrival airport and the place of residence on the first trip
  • Priority access to university residences

ULYP Scholarships (for Palestinian students)

What is the Scholarship about?

Unite Lebanon Youth Project was established in 2010 to provide additional financial support to Palestinian students. ULYP Scholarships create an educational opportunities and give equal access to quality educational programs to youth, and women in the marginalized communities. Its mission is to empower the marginalized children, youth, and women living in Lebanon TODAY with the skills and knowledge they need to change and become active agents of change for a better tomorrow, without any discrimination.

BAU helps Palestinian students registered in both Teaching Diploma program -Faculty of Human Science and DPT program -Faculty of Health Sciences to acquire scholarships from ULYP.

What are the scholarship terms?

  • ULYP scholarships is available to Palestinian students
  • Field of study: Teaching Diploma program -Faculty of Human Science and DPT program -Faculty of Health Sciences only.

What does the Scholarship cover?

  • ULYP covers 100% of tuition fees.

CNRS Scholarships

What is the Scholarship about?

CNRS-L/BAU PhD Award Program, is a joint scholarship grant between the National Council for Scientific Research (CNRS) and BAU as part of an agreement signed between the two parties for the co-financing of Doctoral studies. Five PhD students can benefit from this joint grant. BAU will be offering full scholarships for the accepted PhD students, while CNRS will be offering them an annual stipend to be fully devoted to their thesis work.

What are the scholarship terms?

  • These scholarships are for BAU graduates holding a Master's degree.
  • Candidates under the age of 30, and having 14/20 (French system) or 85/100 (American system) as overall average in the Master’s degree (or equivalent) can apply.
  • Evaluation of application process will depend on competitive merit-based process.
  • The beneficiary of the scholarship must clearly and explicitly mention the funding program (CNRS-L/BAU) in all scientific publications and contributions related to the PhD work (articles, oral presentations, Posters, and proceedings, etc.).
  • The beneficiary of the scholarship will be mentored by BAU committee to act as a source of support and assistance through the three years.

What does the Scholarship cover?

  • A full academic scholarship for a duration of three years provided by BAU.
  • An annual stipend from CNRS, renewable for two consecutive years.
