Beirut Arab University inaugurated its first Job-Fair at the Tripoli Branch on the 14th of April, 2014, with the participation of companies and Business Institutions from various fields ranging from engineering, commerce, banking, nutrition, health sciences and others.
The fair aimed at helping students in North Lebanon get introduced to the Lebanese Job-Market while creating opportunities for graduates to find employment and training. Furthermore, the fair familiarized employers with students’ abilities, potentials and study programs. It also aimed at fostering the building of partnerships between the University and the productive sector, to diversify and develop the fields of specialization offered at the University in response to the job-market requirements.
However, the launching of the Job-Fair comes two months before BAU celebrates the Graduation of the First Class of 135 students at the Faculties of Science, Health Sciences and Business Administration at the Tripoli Branch which was inaugurated in 2010.
The fair was opened by the President of the University, Prof. Dr. Amr Galal El Adawi, and was attended by Dr. Nader Ghazal, Head of the Municipalities’ Union of El Fayhaa, HE Ambassador Dr. Mohamed Issa, Mr. Marios Beaini, Head of the Engineers’ Syndicate in the North, Dr. Rahil El Doweihi, Head of the Dentists’ Syndicate in the North, Mr. Riyad Alameddine, General Director of El Safadi Organization, Prof. Dr. Khaled Baghdadi, BAU Vice-President for Tripoli Branch Affairs, the deans of faculties, Mr. Ahmed El Sankari, General Coordinator of Tripoli Branch, the heads of Free Professions’ Syndicates, civil society organizations, the directors of administrative units, heads and representatives of participating companies and banks, as well as a crowd of students.
After the Lebanese National Anthem and the BAU Anthem were played, Vice-President for Tripoli Branch Affairs, Prof. Dr. Baghdadi explained the aim of the Job-Fair, namely to provide students with the chance to learn about the various companies and job-opportunities available. It also aims at facilitating the application of students to these companies for training, to receive first-hand experiences of the implementation of what they study, as well as gaining experiences that qualify them for later employment.
Prof. Dr. Amr Galal El Adawi pointed out in his speech that there is an inevitable connection between the University and the society. The University, thus, faces great challenges that can only be confronted by meeting the job-market needs and requirements. This necessitates a close relationship with the productive sectors, while introducing the latest fields of specialization which create job-opportunities and achieve a cutting edge for BAU graduates.
El Adawi added that what distinguishes this gathering is that it is the result of joint efforts. Distinguished organizations, of local and international repute, cooperated towards the event’s realization, and for the first time it is held simultaneously in Debbieh and Tripoli Campuses.
In the end, the President thanked all the participating companies and businesses, as well as the organizing committee. He, then, toured the exhibition with the attending guests.
