The main objective of the meeting was to share Hawkama-Eu Research Grants Program outputs and disseminate the finding of the winning student projects from different universities of Lebanon. This research program is funded by the European Union Regional Trust Fund in response to the Syrian crisis (MADAD) and is implemented by a group of international non-governmental organizations comprised of ACTED, We World-GVC, Soldarites International, Action Against Hunger,Lebrelief and LEWAP.
The program is designed to foster rethinking of water systems for maximum efficiency, value extraction and social and environmental benefit among future water leaders in Lebanon. It promotes Research in Action in the water and environment sector in Lebanon.
The celebrated meeting started with a welcoming and encouraging words by Prof. Amr Galal El Adawi, EU and LEWAP representatives.
This was followed by presentations of winning students highlighting their key findings and implications of their research as well as the proposed advocacy plans to improve the status of water sector in Lebanon.
The selected projects included two BAU winning projects facilitated by the Research Center for Environment & Development, Bekaa.
