The Minister of Public Health and the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt At Beirut Arab University Health Care Center

In an initiative by the Arab Republic of Egypt, and with the support of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to stand beside the Lebanese people after the national catastrophe, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the President of the Supreme Council of University Hospitals Professor Khaled Abdel Ghaffar sent a medical support team to the Health Care Center at Beirut Arab University. The team includes twenty one doctors who are specialized senior professors in the faculties of Medicine in prestigious universities in Egypt among which are the universities of Cairo, Ain Shams, Alexandria, Tanta, Assiut and Al-Azhar from various specialties. Egypt has also sent 14 tons of medical supplies and medication. The doctors started to receive patients and injured people to be treated as well as they provided medicine for them free of charge.

The Minister of Public Health, Dr. Hamad Hassan, in the presence of the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Dr. Yasser Elwi, paid an inspection visit to Beirut Arab University Health Care Center where the President of the university Professor Amr Galal El-Adawi and the Dean of Faculty of Medicine Professor Najlaa Mashaal received them.

Following the visit, Minister Hamad Hassan thanked the government, leadership and people of the Arab Republic of Egypt for this bright history of giving since 2006 through the field hospital. He praised the role of this excellent academic medical center through cooperation and exchange with the Ministry of Health and the medical services it provides to all Lebanese and Arab brothers in addition to the medical aids and supplies as consequences of the explosion.

Dr. Yasser Elwi, Ambassador of Egypt, expressed Egypt's constant keenness to cooperate closely with the Lebanese people through the university and Egypt’s field hospital to endorse Lebanon during its crisis.

Professor El-Adawi, President of the university, also thanked President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the President of the Supreme Council of University Hospitals Professor Khaled Abdel Ghaffar for this medical support in sending 14 tons of medical supplies and medication to the Health Care Center at Beirut Arab University to support the Lebanese people in their painful affliction.

President of the university noted that BAUHC continues to receive patients whose condition requires physiotherapy where the center includes distinctive clinics with an elite group of university doctors in all specialties in addition to operating the dental and the psychotherapy clinics for its leading role after the suffer of Lebanese community from August blast.

The president of the university also stated that a team of engineers and architects had surveyed some of the damaged buildings in cooperation with the Order of Engineers and Architects and teams from the Lebanese Army and Beirut Municipality.

We continue, as a university, to provide support to serve the Lebanese community despite the affliction and damage that affected us after the explosion and its repercussions in light of these difficult economic conditions.
