The Faculty of Architecture at Beirut Arab University supports the people of Beirut in their painful plight

In the face of the catastrophic Beirut port explosion leaving a trail of destruction across the city and causing a large number of martyrs, wounded, and missing people, Beirut Arab University has pledged support to the people of Beirut in their painful plight.

Within this framework, and based on its belief in the national duty towards Lebanon in general and the capital Beirut in particular, the faculty of Architecture - Design and Built Environment, represented by its Dean, Prof. Ibtihal Youssef El-Bastawissi, has met with the responsible bodies taking part in relief efforts, in order to organize the frameworks for assistance that the faculty students and staff immediately responded to support among the volunteers working on the field in coordination with the Lebanese Army, Beirut Municipality, and Khatib & Alami Company, as the representative of the High Relief Commission as well as the coordination with international organizations and bodies.

Therefore, BAU has dedicated, since the first day of this explosion, all its capabilities, technical assistance and the experiences of staff members and students at the disposal of the people of Beirut and those in charge of rescue, restoration and reconstruction operations, so that it may contribute to mitigating the effects of this disaster with the support youth members from BAU Rotaract who have been volunteering in cleaning up debris and distributing food.
