Signing a Cooperation Agreement Between Bekaa Hospital and Beirut Arab University

Beirut Arab University, represented by its President Professor Wael Nabil Abdel Salam, signed a cooperation agreement with Bekaa Hospital, represented by the President of its Board of Directors former Deputy Mohamed Karawi, for a period of three years in the presence of BAU Secretary-General Dr. Omar Houri, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the University Professor Wafaa Al Sahli, Professor Sobhi Abou Shaheen and Bekaa Hospital staff.

The aim of this agreement is to train the students of the faculties of Medicine, Pharmacy and Health Sciences in all disciplines and levels, and resident doctors affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at the university.

The agreement also states on organizing courses, scientific lectures, medical seminars, research and training students in professional and scientific tools using modern and innovative ways, to enhance medical practice, care and health services that benefit and bring goodwill to the society at large.

At the beginning, the Managing Director of the Hospital Ms. Ghada Karaawi, welcomed Beirut Arab University delegation and pointed out the importance of this agreement to strengthen the development of science and learning curricula.

 The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bekaa Hospital Mr. Mohammad Karaawi, mentioned the importance of the relationship between the Bekaa Hospital and Beirut Arab University as a great example of scientific and medical cooperation and training for doctors. In 2016, the first agreement was signed between the hospital and the University, which has evolved over the past years. Today, the relationship between the two parties took a progressive form, and a dynamic and constantly evolving relationship to establish constructive cooperation and community service between the University and all hospitals in Lebanon, especially the Bekaa Hospital.

In his turn, the President of Beirut Arab University Professor Wael Nabil Abdel Salam, expressed his pleasure for renewing this agreement with Bekaa Hospital, considering that first it is a significant positive step in the service of the community in the region and an activation for BAU branch there, especially that Lebanon has suffered during the past two months and needs continuous development in the medical and health fields.

 Professor Abdel Salam, also brought up that the university is in the process of opening a nursing department in Bekaa branch which the region desperately needs, after the urgent need to activate this sector during the past crises, considering that cooperation with Bekaa Hospital in this regard falls in their interest and in the interest of the people of the region in general.

Following signing the agreement, Mr. Karaawi presented an appreciation shield for both the President of the University and its Secretary-General.
