Beirut Arab University, represented by its President Professor Wael Nabil Abdel Salam, has signed a three-year Memorandum of Understanding with the Tripoli Bar Association, represented by the President of the Bar Mr. Marwan Daher. The agreement aims to enhance academic and professional cooperation in legal and judicial fields through developing training programs and organizing joint conferences and activities that contribute to preparing specialized legal professionals and developing the practical skills of both students and lawyers.
The signing ceremony was attended by the Secretary General of the University Dr. Omar Houri, the Dean of the Faculty of Law and Political Science Professor Mohamed Walid Abdel Rahim, the Assistant Dean Dr. Tala Zein, and the Secretary of the Board of Trustees of the Al-Bir wal-Ihsan Waqf Judge Professor Fawzi Adham, alongside an accompanying delegation from the Bar Association.
The University President Professor Abdel Salam, emphasized the university’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with various civil society institutions, noting that engaging with syndicates and associations aligns with the university's policy and mission aimed at serving society and fostering constructive partnerships.
For his part, the President of the Tripoli Bar Association Mr. Daher, expressed his pleasure in visiting this prestigious academic and intellectual institution, which has graduated numerous highly qualified professionals who went on to hold prominent positions in Lebanon and the Arab world. He stressed that the Association's mission is rooted in upholding justice, redressing grievances, and achieving equity, as these are the cornerstones of establishing a state of law and institutions.
The agreement establishes a broad framework for cooperation between the University's Faculty of Law and Political Science and the Tripoli Bar Association through its various centers. This cooperation spans the fields of legal aid, professional qualification, human rights, arbitration, and mediation, through organizing workshops, training courses, and specialized lectures, alongside exchanging academic expertise and conducting joint legal research.
Furthermore, the agreement provides field internship opportunities for law students and outlines the organization of preparatory programs to support students and graduates wishing to take the Bar Association examinations. It also includes the implementation of joint initiatives aimed at spreading legal culture, enhancing human rights awareness, and reinforcing the concept of alternative dispute resolution.
