Beirut Arab University, represented by its President Professor Wael Nabil Abdel Salam, has signed a three-year Memorandum of Understanding with the Samir Kassir Foundation, represented by its President Mr. Malek Mrowa. In a step considered the first of its kind among Lebanese universities, the agreement aims to promote the concepts of safety and security in journalism education.
The Memorandum of Understanding stipulates that the Foundation will provide specialized educational modules on journalists' safety, in addition to involving university students in courses, workshops, and training sessions organized by the Foundation. For its part, the University commits to integrating these materials into its courses and training programs, while preserving intellectual property rights and attributing the content to its developers.
The memorandum also encompasses cooperation in the areas of academic coordination and practical training, thereby contributing to preparing a generation of journalists capable of practicing media work professionally and safely, amidst the growing challenges facing the media sector in Lebanon.
