Beirut Arab University, represented by its President, Professor Wael Nabil Abdel Salam, has signed a five-year Memorandum of Understanding with Rafik Hariri University, represented by its President, Professor Said Ladki. The agreement aims to enhance academic and research cooperation and develop scientific partnerships, thereby elevating the quality of higher education, broadening the horizons of scientific research, and serving the community.
The signing ceremony was attended by the BAU Secretary General, Dr. Omar Houri; the Dean of Academic Affairs and International Relations, Professor Sobhi Abou Chahine; the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Professor Yehya Temsah; the Dean of Graduate Studies and Research, Professor Hania Nakkash; Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Abdallah El Ghali; alongside a delegation from Rafik Hariri University.
This MoU falls within the framework of both universities' commitment to promoting cultural understanding, academic excellence, and international scientific research. It seeks to provide broader educational opportunities for students, faculty members, and researchers through specialized collaboration between the Faculty of Engineering at Beirut Arab University and the College of Engineering at Rafik Hariri University.
The memorandum outlines a range of joint cooperation areas, most notably the co-supervision of doctoral dissertations where applicable, the implementation of joint research projects, and the co-publication of scientific research by scholars from both institutions. Additionally, it entails submitting joint proposals to secure research funding at both the national and international levels.
Furthermore, the MoU focuses on promoting academic exchange programs and the mobility of students and faculty members. It supports joint conferences, workshops, seminars, and scientific activities, while also granting students the opportunity to register for courses available at the partner university in accordance with approved rules and procedures.
Both parties emphasized that this partnership constitutes a significant step toward expanding the horizons of scientific and academic collaboration, as well as fostering innovation and applied research. Ultimately, this alliance will reflect positively on students and researchers, contributing to the advancement of development and knowledge in Lebanon.
