The Faculty of Medicine at Beirut Arab University participated in the 3rd National Research Day 2026. The event was organized by the Lebanese University in Fanar, under the patronage and in the presence of the Minister of Public Health Dr. Rakan Nasser Al-Din. Medical faculties from various Lebanese universities took part in the event, which aimed to foster scientific research and encourage excellence and innovation in the medical and health fields. In addition to the presence of Dr. Bilal Azakir representing the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Beirut Arab University Professor Wafaa Al Sehly, and the Dean of Graduate Studies and Research Professor Hania Nakkach.
The Faculty of Medicine at BAU achieved a remarkable academic milestone, securing second place among competing medical schools. Student Miraline Awad won the award for Best Poster Presentation for her research titled: “Indications and Neonatal Outcomes of Primary Emergency Cesarean Section for Non-Reassuring Fetal Heart Rate: A Multicenter Study in Lebanon.” The award recognizes the scientific excellence of the research and its significance in advancing medical knowledge.
In another achievement, a project by medical student Adam Khalifa El Rawas and his research team was selected as the best research representing BAU's Faculty of Medicine at the event. Titled “Prevalence of Prediabetes and Associated Risk Factors Among University Students,” the study was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Bilal Azakir, highlighting a critical health issue affecting the university-aged youth demographic.
The competition saw broad participation from medical students across Lebanon, with more than 200 research posters displayed. This showcased the advanced scientific caliber of the submissions and the high level of competition among participants. These accomplishments underscore the quality of research produced by BAU students, as well as the effectiveness of the faculty's mentorship and research training initiatives most notably the "PROMISE" program.
These results reflect the commitment of the Faculty of Medicine at Beirut Arab University to fostering a culture of scientific research and supporting innovation. Ultimately, these efforts prepare future physicians and researchers capable of making a positive impact on both the healthcare sector and society.
