Congratulations to our distinguished alumnus, Professor Bassam Alameddine, on his appointment as President of the American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK)
Prior to this appointment, Professor Alameddine held the position of President at the Gulf University for Science and Technology (GUST) in Kuwait from April 2024 till August 2025.
Professor Alameddine completed his Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry-Faculty of Science at Beirut Arab University in 1999. He also holds a Master's Degree in Materials Science and Engineering from Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Ingénieurs en Arts Chimiques et Technologiques (1999–2000), a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the Université de Fribourg - Universität Freiburg (2000–2004). Following his doctoral studies, he served as a Postdoctoral Fellow in Organic Chemistry at Columbia University (2004–2005). Recently, he completed the Senior Leadership Executive Programme in Organizational Leadership at the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford (2024–2025).
This is a proud moment for our university, we are confident that under his leadership AURAK will continue to thrive and lead during a time of significant change, preparing students to excel in a rapidly evolving global landscape. We wish Professor Alameddine all the best in this challenging new chapter.
