Beirut Arab University announces the outstanding achievement of its students at the Huawei ICT Competition Middle East and Central Asia (ME&CA) 2024-2025 Finals, where the prizes were announced on December 18, 2024, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The BAU team, comprised of Ahmad Chehab El Dine from the Faculty of Engineering at BAU Debbieh campus, Wassef Hijazi from the Faculty of Science at BAU Tripoli branch, along with Michelle Haddad from USEK, claimed the Grand Prize in the Computing Track under the mentorship of Eng. Mustafa Bizri.
Ahmad Chehab El Dine had previously won first place in the local competition, while Wassef Hijazi secured second place, setting the stage for their outstanding performance at the regional finals.
The three-day event marked the 10th anniversary of the Huawei ICT Academy in the region and brought together over 300 university students from 19 countries. The competition highlighted excellence across Cloud, Network, and Computing tracks, in addition to an innovation competition.
The team will now advance to represent Lebanon and the region at the global finals in China next May, joining 16 other winning teams from the Middle East and Central Asia.
