BAU Faculty Awards: Honoring Excellence and Inspiring Achievement

Beirut Arab University hosted the first edition of the Faculty Awards ceremony in Jamal Abdel Nasser Hall- Beirut Campus. This event was organized by the Deanship of Graduate Studies and Research to honor the University’s most distinguished Faculty members in the field of research, and celebrated faculty promotions. The event spotlighted BAU's unwavering commitment to academic excellence, research innovation, and professional development across all disciplines.
 
Professor Hania Nakkash, Dean of Graduate Studies and Research delivered inspiring opening remarks. She highlighted BAU’s commendable progress in elevating research quality and its positive impact on the University’s global rankings. She proudly noted that BAU is now firmly positioned among the top three universities in Lebanon, attributing this success to the faculty’s dedication and ability to rise to every challenge. Professor Nakkash emphasized that the University’s strategic focus on research excellence continues to foster a vibrant and dedicated academic environment.
 
Two faculty representatives also shared their reflections during the ceremony. Professor Mohamad Dakdouki, Head of Chemistry Department from the Faculty of Science, delivered a heartfelt speech in which he referenced the BAU anthem, highlighting the gratitude the academic community feels toward the University. He praised BAU for its unwavering support at both administrative and academic levels, acknowledging that such encouragement is what empowers faculty to excel.
 
Professor Nada El Darra, Head of Nutrition & Dietetics Department from the Faculty of Health Sciences, shared her personal academic journey at BAU, reflecting on how each milestone in her career was shaped and supported by the University’s administration, her colleagues, and her Faculty. She expressed her gratitude for the recognition and affirmed that such acknowledgment fuels her motivation to give back to the community and pursue even greater achievements.
 
The final address was delivered by BAU President Professor Wael Nabil Abdel Salam, who extended his sincere thanks to the Deanship of Graduate Studies and Research for its diligent administration of BAU’s research activities and for organizing this meaningful event. In an intriguing metaphor, Professor Wael described the faculty as “the muscles to the administrative brain,” recognizing them as the driving force behind the University’s tangible accomplishments and commending them for their tireless efforts. He concluded by reflecting on BAU’s journey toward continued success, stating that “with every step forward, the jewel that is BAU becomes clearer and cleaner.”
 
The event served as a reminder of the collective power of academic collaboration and institutional support in shaping a University that leads with vision, values, and impact.
