BAU Alumnus Harvests the 1st Place at the MIT Lebanon Challenge 2020

Beirut Arab University’s Alumnus Anas Hajjar Class of 19 from the Faculty of Engineering- Industrial Engineering department- won the 1st Place at the MIT Lebanon challenge 2020 being part of a team consisted of Lebanese Universities under the title of “The Leather Team”, organized by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology under the Industry Manufacturing track within a Project called 'Scarpe'.

The competition which included 1108 applicants from 51 different countries around the world aimed to advance solutions for Lebanon, brought together diverse stakeholders from Lebanon and the diaspora to address the challenges the country is facing and then pitch the ideas to the judges.

The Problem of the Project submitted was : The decline of the Lebanese leather manufacturing industry and the important deficit in the Lebanese Trade and the solution was: Linking the GCC high end sandals & shoes brands and Lebanese Manufacturers.
