The Faculty of Health Sciences at Beirut Arab University – Tripoli Branch organized an awareness campaign on Diabetes, in collaboration with the Medical Guidance Center in Barqayel – Akkar.
The campaign included tests for vital signs, muscle mass, blood sugar level (Glucose), stored blood sugar (HbA1c) and blood fats (Lipids).
In addition, there were awareness stations covering healthy nutrition, the symptoms and complications of diabetes, and foot care for patients diagnosed in diabetes.
Twenty-five students participated in the campaign under the supervision of the Faculty Director Dr. Nisrine Bissar, and faculty professors: Dr. Salah Ghandour and Dr. Maha Danker from the Nursing Department, Dr. Rayan Kassir from the Medical Laboratories Department, and Dr. Rozy Mitri from the Nutrition and Dietetics Department. The activity served 86 patients from Barqayel and the surrounding villages.
