The workshop was attended by the Head of the North Education Region, Ms. Nahla Hamati, representing the General Director of Education, and Prof. Amr Galal El Adawi, President of BAU, as well as the directors of high schools. The Head of the North Education Region praised the project and promised to mainstream it to all schools and high schools in the North.
The activities of the workshops which extended over a period of four days were as follows:
Day One consisted of a detailed orientation for the teachers participating from 20 high schools in the North, focusing on the introduction of new technology, especially the “Raspberry Pi”, a small computer, into education. The aim is to enable teachers to effectively convert their scientific courses into concrete courses for the receiving students. The programming basics for the “Raspberry Pi”, through “Scratch” and “Python” languages, was also explained, with a detailed presentation on how to connect and install the keyboard.
On Day Two, two students from each high school attended together with their teachers. The aim was to innovate a project by using and developing their creativity. During that day, the students, with the help of their teachers, managed to convert scientific issues into applications. The teachers and students were excited and interactive, happy to learn about the “Raspberry Pi”.
On Day Three, the participants acquired new skills on how to use ultrasound sensors and a small motor-engine. They also started planning and designing their own projects using the “Raspberry Pi”, implementing the knowledge they had acquired.
The Coder Maker Club was recently launched, offering school and university students in the North who are interested to benefit from this club.
At the end of the workshops, the participants presented their projects to experts who praised their products.
