The criminal liability of Architects under Lebanese legal system is restricted to the following crimes: ­ Practicing the profession without obtaining permission from either of the relevant Engineering Syndicates; Beirut or Tripoli (by reference to Article 393of the Lebanese Criminal Code) ­ Committing Building violations (Articles 22 to 24 of the Building Code). Those codes apply in the situation where the Architect violated the Lebanese Building Code ­ Voluntary manslaughter and abuse (as per Articles 547 to 550 of the Lebanese Criminal Code) and (as per Articles 554 to 559 of the Lebanese Criminal Code). The aforesaid codes apply, if the crime or offense is committed within five-year period in accordance with Article 668 of the Lebanese Code of Obligations and Contracts ­ Involuntary manslaughter and abuse if the offense is committed within five-year period pursuant to Article 668 of the Lebanese Code of Obligations and Contracts.
