BAU Faculty of Medicine Strengthens Academic Collaboration with Atatürk University through Erasmus+ Staff Mobility

The Faculty of Medicine at Beirut Arab University proudly concluded a successful Erasmus+ Staff Mobility visit to Atatürk University in Erzurum, Türkiye. The mobility was facilitated by Beirut Arab University’s International Relations Office.


The faculty delegation; Dr. Mohammad Houri (Assistant Dean), Dr. Miriam Al Battal, Dr. Michelle Chahoud, Ms. Jana Adada, and Ms. Aya Barbarji; was warmly received by the Rector of Atatürk University, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hacımüftüoğlu, and the Faculty of Medicine leadership, headed by the Dean, Prof. Dr. Meltem Melikoğlu, together with the Vice Deans, Prof. Dr. Ayşenur Dostbil and Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kara.


Over four productive days, the delegation held high-level meetings with the International Office and the Health Sciences Institute and toured Atatürk University Hospital and its clinical departments; including Ophthalmology, Pathology, Family Medicine, and the Medical Education and Simulation Centre; exploring concrete pathways for student mobility, clinical training, and joint research.


Key outcomes of the visit:

1.    A proposed Medicine-specific Memorandum of Understanding between the two universities
2.    Potential annual Erasmus+ mobility opportunities
3.    New avenues for collaborative research and postgraduate education through the Health Sciences Institute


In a gesture symbolizing the growing partnership between the two universities, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hacımüftüoğlu presented the BAU delegation with a commemorative shield addressed to the President of Beirut Arab University, expressing his anticipation of formalizing the collaboration through the forthcoming MoU.


This visit marks an important step toward expanding international clinical training and research opportunities for medical students and faculty.
