The Human Rights Center at Beirut Arab University organized a training session entitled “Implementation of Article 47 of the Code of Criminal Procedure” on Wednesday 8 October 2025, in collaboration with the Friedrich Ebert Foundation (FES) in Lebanon and the “Article 47” campaign.
The session, moderated by Attorney Verina Al-Amil, featured General (Ret.) Dr. Hussein Khachfa, who provided a comprehensive overview of the right to defense in Lebanese Law and its practical application, followed by Attorney Lama Al-Amin, who discussed the amendment of Article 47, implementation mechanisms, and related challenges.
The session concluded with an engaging open discussion among participants on ways to strengthen the application of Article 47 and safeguard the constitutional rights of detainees.
