Energy Consumption Adaptation in Green Femtocell LTE Networks
Abstract
Base stations energy consumption in 3GPP Long Term Evolution (LTE) Macro/femtocell networks is of paramount importance. Therefore, a sleep/wake up mechanism should be introduced in order to save energy. In this paper, we derive a heuristic which allows determination of sleep/wake up modes for base stations. We implement a Call Admission Control (CAC) mechanism that takes into consideration handover/ new calls and achieves service differentiation of two LTE classes of service.
