Course Description

The course is designed to introduce students to the essential therapeutic knowledge, principles and concepts needed for providing pharmaceutical care to patients with the following disorders: endocrinologic: Diabetes Mellitus, thyroid disorders, and adrenal gland disorders; gynecologic and obstetric: pregnancy and lactation, contraception, and menstruation-related disorders. Emphasis will be placed on integrating epidemiology, etiology, pathophysiology, treatment options and guidelines, disease state management including the rationale of drug therapy selection, as well as addressing drug therapy related problems for the above mentioned disorders. To apply the acquired knowledge and skills, the course is co-requisite to Integrated Case-Based Learning III, PHAR 476, which enables the provision of patient-centered care. Co-requisite: PHAR 472
