The course introduces students to the fundamentals of interpreting laboratory test results, and the essential information used to screen for or diagnose diseases and monitor the effectiveness and safety of therapy. Topics include reference ranges and critical values. Tests for kidney, liver and heart function, lipid disorders, infectious diseases, cancers and tumor markers, tests for pharmacogenomics, rheumatic diseases and others. Pre-requisite: PHAR 284
