Course Description

The course aims to provide students with the knowledge of the basic principles of pharmacology, pharmacodynamics (general and molecular aspects) and pharmacokinetics. It also covers the effects of autonomic drugs on cholinergic and noradrenergic neurotransmission, their clinical uses, side effects and drug interactions. Accordingly, the course is considered as pre-requisite to the subsequent five Pharmacology courses (Pharmacology I-V) dealing with drugs affecting different body systems/organs. The practical part of the course aims to help students apply this acquired knowledge using selected in-vitro animal models as well as simulation techniques. Pre-requisite: PHAR 274
