Human-Sciences - Course - Specialized Teaching Methods and Strategies 2SM

This course is the second of two sequence courses with EDSM 351. This second sequence is designed to deepen student teachers understanding of innovative teaching methods and strategies in science and mathematics. They will explore contemporary pedagogical theories, advanced instructional techniques, and assessment methodologies that effectively create more engaged and enhanced learning. Student teachers will delve into different theoretical frameworks: constructivist and inquiry-based learning theories and the relevance of cognitive science in teaching practices. They will explore advanced instructional strategies based on interdisciplinary curricula that connect science and mathematics, utilizing real-world contexts to enhance conceptual understanding, and engage with standards and frameworks (e.g., NGSS, Common Core).
