Course Description

The course deals with the scope of sociolinguistics and issues related to the interaction between language and society, linguistics and sociolinguistics. It covers topics such as multilingualism, language attitudes, stereotypes, language planning, natural speech, language and culture, the analysis of social discourse. This is in addition to social and geographical dialects, speech events, and pragmatics.
