Course Description

A survey of studies in first and second language acquisition, covering the biological foundations of language, evidence of a language system and theories of language learning. It covers acquisition in children and adults, stages and order of acquisition, bilingualism, cognition language from intelligence and innate ideas, language and the brain, understanding and producing utterances, mental grammar and accessing the mental lexicon.
