Human-Sciences - Course - LANGUAGE AND POWER

The course deals with power dynamics and their relation to language interaction. Ideologies, their link to power and to ways of behavior in language, power relations in the family through language (language as a primary medium of social control), discourse changes involving power through language. The communicative context related to power and language censorship, taboos, social correctness and gender issues is examined.
