Course Description

This course helps student teachers understand qualitative and quantitative research design, develop the ability to critically analyze and synthesize empirical research, and write a literature review in the field of education. They will be introduced to Action Research philosophy and methodology, and learn to develop and state a research topic, problem, and research questions; locate, analyze and synthesize literature related to a research question; write a literature review that conforms to education research conventions. They apply basic statistical ideas: sampling distributions, sample surveys, design of experiments, measurement, analysis of data, data presentation, display and summary, averages, dispersion, correlation, probability, confidence intervals, and tests of significance.
