Course Description

This course introduces student teachers to the rich tapestry of world cultures and their historical development. Through examining the concept of culture, including elements such as language, rituals, art, and social norms, they will explore the role of culture in shaping community identities and human experience. They will examine key cultural milestones and movements across different regions, including indigenous cultures and their contributions, ancient civilizations and their legacies, and the impact of exploration, trade, and globalization on cultural exchange. Student teachers will learn to appreciate diversity and inclusivity in their future classrooms and how to foster empathy, respect, and awareness among children.
