Course Description

This course explores the intersection of language acquisition and digital technology, equipping student teachers with the knowledge and skills to utilize digital tools effectively for language learning. Through hands-on experience with various platforms, apps, and online resources, they will investigate how technology can enhance language proficiency, facilitate communication, and foster cultural understanding. The course presents an overview of digital language learning (history, theories, and methodologies), designing effective digital assessments and evaluating language proficiency through technology, in-depth exploration of popular language learning apps, online courses, and virtual classrooms, utilizing social media and online forums for collaborative language practice and community building, and addressing digital divides, accessibility issues, and the implications of technology on language preservation.
