Course Description
This course introduces the fundamental principles of pharmacology and toxicology. It addresses the principles of pharmacodynamics and mechanisms of drug actions, and the utilization of their properties in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Focus is placed on interaction of drugs with specific receptors, fundamentals of how chemicals produce toxicity, aspects of dose-response, handling of toxicants following exposure, mechanisms of toxic action and their modification by chemical, environmental and biological factors.
