Course Description

This course examines cell-based therapies currently used, including Bone Marrow Transplantation (BMT), known as hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, for patients affected by leukemia and other cellular disorders. These therapies can also be applied in regenerative medicine and biotechnology. This course also covers key aspects of cell extraction, culturing, maintaining and storing of stem cells. In addition, directed differentiation and potentiation of cells into defined tissue phenotypes and their biomedical applications are discussed.
