Course Description
The Geomechanics course provides knowledge about the applications of Geomechanics in the oil and gas industry and stress/strain: estimation, transformation, and Mohr circle representation. It also provides information about rock behavior under stress, rock index properties, in-situ stresses and effective stresses, calculation of induced stresses around a wellbore using Kirsh’s equations, and mud weight windows determination to mitigate wellbore failures. Pre-req.: MCHE319.
