 Corporate mergers in Lebanon, particularly within the banking sector, encounter numerous legal complexities that must be addressed. These challenges predominantly revolve around harmonizing diverse legal statutes governing corporate mergers. The applicable laws include the Trade Law, Bank Merger Facilitation Law, Monetary and Credit Law, and Competition Law. In addressing the lack of consistency among current laws related to mergers and acquisitions, the presenter raised concerns about the potential application of competition law to bank mergers.
