Overview
This laboratory is equipped with self-contained teaching facilities such as Francis turbine, and Pelton turbine. Students are able to assess the performance of those devices experimentally. A test bed for a steam power plant is also available where students can measure the steam flow rate and the temperature at different locations in the cycle in order to evaluate the thermal efficiency of the plant. The lab also comprises a solar distillation apparatus, test beds for refrigeration and air conditioning cycles, and several benches for airflow, pressure, and other hydraulic measurements in addition to a pneumatic trainer. Moreover, several test rigs for automotive systems and other mechanical systems are available to observe and measure different mechanical phenomena such as vibration and material strains. Courses served: MCHE 429, MCHE 535, MCHE 564, MCHE 571.
